About Tim Rohwer

Tim Rohwer is a Violist, a string teacher, an arranger, and a composer.  He started Viola in 1997 and has been composing since 1998.  He loves music theory and has a strong passion for helping students understand note reading and the theory that helps composers build strong pieces.

Timothy studied Music Education at BYU-Idaho.  As a violist, he studied under Helen Watts, Dr. R. Kevin Call, and Dr. Lisa McNiven.  Timothy has a strong passion for music, and loves to instill this same love to his students by teaching music theory principles and music history.

Through his work in the education department, Timothy gained a strong love of educational psychology, and loves to teach students how their mind works to help them know how to practice and learn more effectively.

He also saw how literacy could affect a student's feeling of competency, and helps and encourages his students to gain an aural understanding of music as well as a deeper sense of music literacy.

Tim has been composing since he was 13.  His first piece was a 3 movement string quartet, and he has continued his work with composition, writing works for piano, violin, string quartet, string orchestra, and full orchestra.
